History

Discovering the past, shaping the future

At FACT, we believe History is about more than dates and facts. It is about asking questions, exploring evidence and discovering how the past has shaped the world we live in today.

Our children become curious and confident young historians, exploring a rich range of British, local and world history. From the Romans, Anglo-Saxons and Vikings to the Tudors, World War II and the Windrush generation, children discover fascinating stories, people and events that bring the past to life.

Our carefully sequenced curriculum builds on prior learning, helping children make connections, develop their understanding and appreciate different perspectives.

Through an enquiry-based approach, children investigate evidence, conduct research, ask questions, challenge ideas and form their own conclusions.

Our History curriculum enables children to:

Geography

Exploring our world, understanding our place

At FACT, we believe Geography helps children make sense of the world and understand their place within it. We aim for our children to become curious and confident geographers, exploring fascinating places, people and environments both near and far.

Our carefully sequenced curriculum builds geographical knowledge and skills over time. Children explore their local area, the UK and the wider world, developing an understanding of how people and environments are connected and how our actions can shape the planet.

Learning takes place both inside and outside the classroom, with opportunities for fieldwork, investigation, mapping, observation and data collection.

Our Geography curriculum enables children to:

RE

Exploring beliefs, understanding others

At FACT, we believe Religious Education helps children to understand themselves, others and the diverse world around them. Our children explore a range of religions and worldviews, developing curiosity, respect and an appreciation of the beliefs and values that shape people's lives.

Through engaging and thoughtful learning, children explore what people believe, how beliefs influence the way people live and how different traditions are expressed. They are encouraged to ask meaningful questions, reflect on their own ideas and listen respectfully to different perspectives.

Our curriculum builds knowledge and understanding over time, giving children opportunities to explore religious stories, celebrations, practices, beliefs and places of worship. Children are encouraged to make connections between faith, culture and everyday life.

Our RE curriculum enables children to:

Develop knowledge and understanding of different religions and worldviews.
Explore beliefs, values, traditions and practices.
Ask thoughtful questions and discuss big ideas.
Reflect on their own beliefs, values and experiences.

MFL

Discovering languages, connecting cultures

At FACT we believe learning a language opens the door to new cultures, new experiences and new ways of seeing the world. Our children become confident and enthusiastic language learners, developing the skills to communicate in another language and understand the cultures where it is spoken.

Through engaging and practical lessons, children develop their speaking, listening, reading and writing skills, building vocabulary and confidence over time. They are encouraged to take risks, have a go and enjoy communicating in a new language.

Our curriculum builds progressively on prior learning, helping children to remember and apply new vocabulary and language structures while developing an appreciation of different cultures and traditions.
